New Delhi: Students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University led by JNU Students Union President, Kanhaiya Kumar held a march from Mandi House to Parliament in New Delhi today to demand the release of Kashmiri intellectual Professor Abdur Rehman Gilani, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, arrested for sedition.
Thousands of students gathered at Central Delhi’s Mandi House to march to Parliament, two kilometers away, to demand the release of SAR Gilani, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya. Among the others attended in solidarity was author and activist Arundhati Roy. She was also charged with sedition once for her comments on Maoists.
Meanwhile, a Delhi court has extended the custody of Khalid and Bhattacharya by 14 more days. Khalid, who has been in custody since February 23, also filed a bail application in a lower court today.
