Srinagar: The residents of Palhalan area of Baramulla district have said that the troops belonging to 29 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army have made their lives a hell.
The locals told media persons that the troops, stationed in Palhalan in the name of opening a closed road, abused them and even subjected them to physical torture on many occasions.
“We are not even allowed to wait for the bus on Palhalan bus stop. The troops abuse and manhandle us there and don’t allow us to board any vehicle there. If by mistake any vehicle stops there, they chase the passengers and beat them up,” a local told media men on condition of anonymity.
The residents maintained that a Major from Wusan Camp was leading this campaign and he had given a free hand to his men to harass people in the area. They even don’t spare respectable citizens who wait for the vehicles at the bus stop, they said.
“Recently, a lawyer was manhandled by these troops. Their behaviour is extremely rude and unbearable. People are scared to wait for bus at Palhalan bus stop,” said another local.
