Srinagar: Resistance leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik Monday in a joint statement extended the ongoing strike call up to July 21 2 PM. They appealed people to observe complete shutdown on July 22 as well.
“In continuation with the protest program on July 19th and 20ththeir will be a complete shutdown and July 20 will be observed as black day .On21st July shutdown will continue till 2pm.Their will again be a complete shutdown on Friday the 22nd of July and post Friday prayers peaceful protest will be held in all mosques across the state. Meanwhile peaceful protests in mosques after Magrib prayers will continue on all days,” a joint statement of the separatist leaders said.
Rejecting and ridiculing the Govt of India’s statement in Indian parliament today with regard to the current killings and extreme repression in Kashmir by blaming pro freedom leadership and others, Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik in the statement said that the current situation is directly a consequence of India’s “occupational” and military approach to the Kashmir problem.
The leaders said that the internalized propaganda by India with regard to the current situation in particular and the Kashmir dispute in general has blinded them to extent that are unable to understand and accept the genuineness of people’s anger and self drive for freedom and justice.
The leaders praised the courage and steadfastness of people in these most trying times. “All forms of expressing resentment and protest against the unabated killings and injuring of innocent civilians have been curbed, right to assemble and mourn snatched, shoot to kill ordered, strict restrictions enforced, leadership caged, media censored and gagged, any and every human and civil right violated, the options to protest and resist this extreme oppression and assault on people is extremely limited,” the statement said.
