The Kashmiri students told mediamen that the incident happened on Friday afternoon when they were going to sit for an exam that suddenly a group of youth armed with sharp weapons attacked them. The incident resulted in injuries to three out of which one suffered serious injuries on his face and head, they added.
The injured Kashmiri students were identified as Haris Shakeel, Arshid Amin and Owais Aziz. Shakeel who suffered serious injuries was initially shifted to the civil hospital in Kharar, from where he was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, for further treatment.
Shakeel said that a group of youth attacked him without any reason. “I was going to sit in the exam. A group came and started thrashing me. I missed by examination as well,” he said.
Another student from occupied Kashmir said, “We are worried about our safety.”
Meanwhile, Hurriyet leader, Firdous Ahmad Shah, in a statement in Srinagar strongly denounced the attack on the Kashmiri students. He said that the only fault of these students was that they belonged to occupied Kashmir and in India there was no space for the Kashmiris.
