MUZAFFARABAD/Srinagar, Dec 15: On the 23rd martyrdom anniversary of renowned freedom-fighter and commander, Abdul Khaliq Ganai Shaheed AKA Jamal Afghani, glowing tributes were paid to him by the people in the Indian Occupied Kashmir and Muzaffarabad (AJK). People in Kaloosa Bandipora–his home town offered Fateh at his grave and Quran-Khawani.
In Muzaffarabad, a function to commemorate his martyrdom was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League (JKPFL) in which speakers threw light on the life and struggle of the great patriot of Kashmir who began his political struggle for freedom of Kashmir in 1970s as a student and attained martyrdom during the prime of his youth.
On the occasion, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League eulogized Jamal Afghani’s services for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir and said that he was among the pioneers of the struggle of 1990s, and as a political activist he had been making his valuable contribution since 1970s. He said the struggle of the pioneers of the movement for freedom should serve as a beacon light to the present and future generations of the Kashmiris. No Kashmiri will ever forget the sacrifices of the martyrs, he assured the audience. He said the post-Burhan Shaheed movement added a new phase to the freedom struggle of the people and was definitely an unforgettable and unparalleled chapter of the history of Kashmir.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani hailed the great struggle of the people during the last 6 months and said that the valiant people of Kashmir had carved out their place in history by facing the state terrorism of India in many ugly forms and manifestations especially, blinding of peaceful protesters by pellet-gun firing. But the nation had not yielded before Indian military cruelties.

He said “no power on earth can suppress voice of freedom and India must know it before it’s too late.” He called upon the world community to take cognizance of brutal methods of suppressing the Kashmiris by India, reminding it of blinding civilians by pellet-firing during 2016 Kashmir Intifada. He said India had surpassed all cruelties and crimes against the peaceful people of Kashmir in 2016 and had actually sealed every door of peaceful talks with Pakistan and Kashmiris for the resolution of the long standing international dispute. He said the UN should come forward and interfere as being call of the hour, without which no real and durable peace and peaceful resolution of Jammu and Kashmir was in sight because the anti-Muslim regime of PM Modi was aggressive and fanatic. He said India neither believed in any honorable dialogue nor in a just honourable resolution of Kashmir dispute in the region.
Others who spoke on occasion are Khaki Nasrullah, Altaf Izra, Muhammad Amin, Zahid Ahmad and Arshad Ahmad.
