Srinagar: 59 recommendations made by the J&K human rights commission this year, 44 were rejected by the JK government, official data has revealed.
The action taken report (ATR) in many other recommendations made this year by the commission is pending before the regime HRC data said.
The recommendations are rejected either by an empowered committee that comprises officials from the home department, police, CID and the law department, or by the district-level screening-cum-consultative committee (DLSCC).
The commission also pays least attention to check what happens to its recommendations. “If a complainant stops coming to the commission, either his recommendation is accepted or rejected. This is how we get to know the response to our recommendations. The authorities don’t inform us action taken reports in majority of cases,” an official HRC said.
