ISLAMABAD: Kashmir Solidarity Day was marked Monday across Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, Indian held Kashmir (IHK) and elsewhere with a pledge to continue moral and diplomatic support for Kashmiris in their struggle for their right to self-determination. Rallies were held and human chains made to express solidarity with Kashmiris. Pakistan’s top leadership reiterated complete political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Kashmir in their on-going struggle against the Indian occupation. One-minute silence was also observed through Pakistan in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day. In their separate messages, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the dream of peace and prosperity in the region will remain elusive without resolution of the Kashmir dispute. They called upon the international community to urge India to respect Human Rights Charter, put an immediate end to gross human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir.
President Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan reiterates its unwavering political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of IHK in their struggle for self-determination right in accordance with UN resolutions.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the resolution of Kashmir dispute is essential for regional peace and development. A number of events, including rallies, seminaries and meetings were held in different parts of Pakistan and Kashmir to highlight the Kashmir issue and lay emphasis on its solution as per the aspirations of people of Kashmir and to condemn the Indian forces atrocities on innocent people of Kashmir.
Political and religious parties also held functions in this connection. JI held a rally in Islamabad. Addressing the participants, JI Amir Sirajul Haq said Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and it is to be snatched from the clutches of India. He said Pakistan would be complete only after the whole of Kashmir becomes its part.
“Kashmiris consider themselves part of Pakistan and vice versa. But India has occupied Kashmir and continues to play havoc with the lives and properties of Kashmiris,” he lamented. He added each Pakistani stood by Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation.
He said Kashmiris had been offering sacrifices for the last 70 years and braving the unending oppression by Indian forces. He said that Burhani Wani was not only a hero of Kashmiris but also of entire Pakistan, who infused a new life into the freedom struggle.
The JI leader said every Kashmiri before being martyred expressed his wish to be wrapped in Pakistani flag as a mark of his love for Pakistan. Patron-in-Chief of Supreme Shia Ulema Board and chief of Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi said that IHK is the biggest jail of the world surrounded by oppressive Indian forces where barbarity prevails and humanity bleeds.
He was speaking at a function held in connection with the Kashmir day. Moosavi said thousands of daughters and sons in Kashmir have been defaced by pellet guns, thousands of jawans have been martyred with the help of ammunition provided by America and Israel as a punishment for demanding freedom as their basic right but none of the international organisations took notice of it.
Speaking to a rally, Mishal Malik, the spouse of APHC leader Yasin Malik, said that all the political religious parties in Pakistan needed to adopt a united stance on Kashmir and that all the sacrifices being offered by Kashmiris were for realisation of their freedom from Indian occupation. She maintained tangible steps aimed at ridding the Kashmiris of Indian occupation were solution to Kashmir issue.
