Srinagar: The son of recently appointed Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai is missing since yesterday, police said on Saturday.
According to the police, Jehangir Ashraf Khan, 26, has gone missing yesterday afternoon from his home. The police said that the family has lodged a missing report with it.
“The family has lodged a missing report with us. His brother Rashid Ashraf Khan arrived at the police station today afternoon. He told us that his brother Khan is missing since yesterday,” said a police official from Sadder police station where the family has lodged a missing report.
The family, as per police official, has stated in the missing report that Jehangir had went for Friday prayers and had told his family that he will return in the evening after repairing his mobile phone at Lal Chowk.
Khan is a resident of Jehangir Colony in Srinagar’s Baghat area.
Meanwhile, a picture of Junaid with a rifle, has appeared on social networking websites. The message with the picture suggests that Khan has joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit.
There was no immediate confirmation from the police whether Junaid has joined militant ranks.
